New way to online shop

Image
Snapchat has partnered with Amazon to roll out a feature for users to find products on amazon by taking a photo on the social media platform. According, to Techcrunch.com the camera either scans the product or the barcode and pulls up a small amazon window within the Snapchat app.             This is an amazing new feature for social media marketers to take advantage of, we talk endlessly about how YOU HAVE TO KNOW YOUR TARGET MARKET. So if your target market is millennials and younger using snapchat, mentioning that you users can basically buy your product of off snapchat app might be worth mentioning.       "Use snapchat to snap any of our products to find them on Amazon!" Is the tagline a company might use at the end of one of their posts on any of the other social media platforms. (Again linking all your platforms!) You want to make it as easy as possibly for potential customers to find you.   ...

Social Media and Fake news

Image
In our social media marketing class Josh and Jeremiah gave an excellent presentation about laws surrounding fake news and the dissemination of it on social media.     There are already countries with laws pertaining to this, which are punishable by a fine. It brings up great questions about censorship, and how we can fix this problem before the government gets involved. Many people worry this may infringe on Americans first amendent right to freedom of speech.     In recent weeks Elon Musk has been fined by the SEC for "joking" on his twitter that he was going to make Tesla a private company. Is this the right course of action for the SEC to make? Sure, it was a very dumb decision on Elon's part but is this not covered under the first amendent.     It's scary to think of a world where the government tells you what kind of things are against the law to say/post etc. Who decides those kinds of thing?    It's im...

SMM & Online Shopping union formed!

Instagram’s analytics show that 1/3 of stories viewed are posted by businesses. They are savvy to the fact that a good portion of activity taking place on their platform is social media marketing. Launching this feature is smart move by Instagram to stay on top of the obvious trend on their platform, fashion.       This platform is a playground for the visually driven millennials, who often share their outfit of the day (#ootd). This feature streamlines social media marketing into sales more effectively than before. Consumers are more likely to visit business web pages if it’s a click away, as opposed to exiting the app and doing a google search.       The social media mogul has been in talks of launching a stand alone Instagram shopping app if the feature proves to be successful. Only time will tell how effective this new social media marketing tool will be! https://marketingland.com/instagram-rolls-out-shop...

SMM " The Brain Candy Podcast"

Image
The co-hosts of this podcast met on MTV's "The Challenge", a physical competition reality TV show that features stars from their other reality TV shows ("The Real World" and "Road Rules"). The two hit it off immediately, bonding over science and puzzles.              Susie Meister originally appeared on "Road Rules: Down Under", which aired in 1998. Since then she's gone on to complete her doctorate in religious studies, and she does freelance writing for online news sites such as "Medium". Sarah Rice, her co-host, was first seen on "The Real World: Brooklyn" in 2009. Sarah is currently working on her Ph.D. in psychology, specifically in family counseling. Since the girls have similar experiences they created a weekly podcast called "The Brain Candy Podcast", a marriage of pop culture (reality tv) and education.             Due to being in the public eye the girls already had a f...

"Cheer up Sleepy Gene" 4/8/2018 Bob's Burgers

Image
In the most recent Bob's Burger episode Gene forms a friendship with Alex after they pretend to vomit to get out of running in PE. Alex invites Gene to a sleepover, which gives Gene anxiety. He's never had a sleepover and been away from his mom. He's nervous that Alex's Mom's bedtime ritual will be different from Linda's, and that she won't know his bedtime story "Genie Wienie the Baby Beanie". (Side note: I love Linda and the way she loves her kids)         Reluctantly, Gene decides to go. Although, arriving at Alex's house it becomes clear there is some tension between Alex and his mom since she has enforced a no sugar diet in the house. Gene's night becomes increasingly more uncomfortable; after Alex' parents fall asleep he leads Gene downstairs and out the front door. Once outside he declares that he is running away and that he's built a fort in the woods for this occasion. Upon reaching the fort, Alex binges on sugar p...

"Hurt's Soccer" Bob's Burgers

Image
Bob's Burgers is one of my favorite shows to watch. It's focused around an entrepreneur and his kooky family. The cast is lovable and funny. There's Bob whose monotone and somewhat of a wet blanket. While his wife is nurturing, light-hearted, and fun. Their eldest daughter is like Bob, she's monotone, but she's quirky and like any other teenage girl obsessed with boys. Gene is the musical one and Louise is the trouble maker! This is my go to show to just throw on in the background while cleaning or chatting with my friends. The one-liners are hilarious and repeatable.          In the most recent episode Bob and Linda realize they had signed up Louise for a soccer teams weeks ago and never took her. The coach of the team calls and asks that she show up for the last game. Louise is not thrilled about this to say the least, neither are her parents.          Upon, arriving at the field Bob is informed that he ...

Netflix Original Series "Love" (*spoiler alert)

Image
Netflix currently released the third and final season for the show this March. The series is set in L.A. and follows Mickey Dobson, an alcoholic sex and love addict, through relationships and relationship missteps. We see Mickey grow and build a relationship with Gus who has his own anger management and self destructing habits. It's funny, and the experiences in the show seem realistic. This, is not a typical romance story the lovable duo hits a lot of snags, bumps, and cliffs along the way. But, it's more about their decision and choice to be better everyday and ultimate decision to work through things together. Even though their path has never been easy, the realization that they make each other better is much more valuable then the potential pitfalls.         The third season is bittersweet, I'm sad to let go of these characters after growing to love them during a rocky start in their relationship. This season the duo travels to...
