SMM " The Brain Candy Podcast"
The co-hosts of this podcast met on MTV's "The Challenge", a physical competition reality TV show that features stars from their other reality TV shows ("The Real World" and "Road Rules"). The two hit it off immediately, bonding over science and puzzles.
Susie Meister originally appeared on "Road Rules: Down Under", which aired in 1998. Since then she's gone on to complete her doctorate in religious studies, and she does freelance writing for online news sites such as "Medium". Sarah Rice, her co-host, was first seen on "The Real World: Brooklyn" in 2009. Sarah is currently working on her Ph.D. in psychology, specifically in family counseling. Since the girls have similar experiences they created a weekly podcast called "The Brain Candy Podcast", a marriage of pop culture (reality tv) and education.
Due to being in the public eye the girls already had a following on their personal social media channels making it easy to gain a small following for the podcast in the beginning. The girls have been sure to be cognizant of linking their social media channels Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, & their website on their newsletter. We discussed in chapter seven of our text “Social Media Marketing: A Strategic Approach” by Barker &Barker. All to share “The Brain Candy Podcast’s” content, and to measure and get feedback on their content.
